Recorded on March 5, 2011, Dose V was the fifth jam session dubbed as a "dose." These three tracks were definitely recorded using a Korg Electribe EMX-1 with a mini KP for effects. In the first two there is obvious use of the built-from-a-kit "Weird Sound Generator" sold by Music From Outer Space (RIP Ray Wilson). The kit did not come with a case, so Nikolai used a VHS cassette holder molded from fluorescent plastic and drilled holes in the top "flap" to serve as a control panel. The WSG is a dual oscillator drone machine with a resonant low pass filter, each oscillator can be independently tuned and can be modulated by independent LFO's.

There is also speculation that we used a Roland SH-2000 in some of these tracks (the preset organ-esque switches had lots of reedy and brass-like sounds).

A Sony TCM-200DV was used for tape scratching and manipulation, likely using recordings of either mini KP or Monotron drone noises. On the same tape as the 3.21 Field Recordings featured in Dose VI, these likely came from the other side that was labeled "Monotron Dimetry" (as seen in the album art).
